The Next Step Begins Tomorrow

Well friends, I’ve taken a few weeks off from the updates because I’ve been resting and enjoying my “break” between chemo and radiation, but that ends tomorrow! Tomorrow (Monday the 28th) begins 6 weeks of radiation. The lame news is that I’ll have to go to the doctor for treatments daily, except for weekends. The better news is that side effects should be minimal, outside of the fact that I could get pretty tired towards the end. To which I say, it’s time to go ahead and start planning for my come-back triathlon since I laugh in the face of “side effects”. 😉

Barring any delays, my last treatment should be Thursday, March 7th, exactly nine days before the 1-year anniversary of this entire journey. And that, my friends, will be the official END of treatments! There will still be some surgeries to follow later in the year, but treatment will be done and we can finally start getting our life back.

I’ll be updating a bit more often again, particularly if I start developing any weird superpowers or start glowing in the dark. (Or, maybe I won’t, and instead I’ll start stopping crime in the inner city under a sneaky psuedo-name with a fabulous outfit so if you start seeing similar headlines, don’t blow my cover, ok?)

As we embark on this next leg of the marathon, here are some prayer requests you can continue to lift up for us;

1) Please pray protection against the side effects of radiation, whether short or long term, and that there are no negative effects that might affect or delay the reconstruction process after this.

2) Please pray for continued strength and perseverance for both Matt and I.

3) Pray for God to open doors in whatever way He would like to use this story. Satan intended this for evil, but God intends to use it for good!

4) As always, please pray for continued and permanent healing and that we never see this battle again. We are believing that the end of treatment is the end of treatment for good!
