Ya’ll.
Today…I RAN. ON THE TREADMILL. FOR FIVE WHOLE MINUTES.
THIS IS HUGE.
There’s a lot of reasons why you might think this is an accomplishment, and you’d be right about them all.
But it’s not just an accomplishment because I’m currently going through chemotherapy and I’m supposed to be laid up on the couch, because that wasn’t going to stop me if I could help it.
It’s also not just an accomplishment because it’s been 8 weeks to the day that I had surgery (May 23rd), because that wasn’t going to stop me if I could help it either.
This is an accomplishment to me because I’m only halfway through the reconstruction of a double mastectomy that had to be put on pause for chemo and radiation. Without going into too much detail, I need only remind you of the opening credits of Baywatch for you to connect the dots here…running is not exactly kind to the particular region we’re focusing on here!
I really thought running would be fully out of the question until about this time next year, when all surgeries are finally complete and healed. MAJOR thanks to God for allowing me to be able to do this because He certainly didn’t have to. I’m picking my jaw up off the floor over His goodness.
Take that, cancer.
