Do you ever feel like there’s just not enough time? And if you just had a little more time, you could finally catch up? Finally cross some things off the perpetual to-do list? Really accomplish something important? Finally take that NAP?
Well today is February 29, 2020. I know, it’s tempting to think it’s just another Saturday. But it’s not. It’s February 29th, 2020. Today is an entire extra day added to the year. Twenty-four extra hours. You’re prayers for more time have been answered by the magic of the Gregorian calendar.
So…what are you going to do with your extra twenty-four hours?
You could just keep spinning in the hamster wheel of life, feeling like you can never catch up, because it’s just another Saturday filled with all the things that fill Saturday afternoons.
OR…you could take a moment and realize that today is a gift. Consider the fact that today is precious, and maybe something special could be done today because guess what…you have the extra time. Spend some quality time with family. Make that phone call you’ve been meaning to make. Get a massage. Take a nap. (I’m sorry, did I just hear your inner monologue argue that you don’t have time for that? Busted!)
Work out. Eat out. Do a good deed. Did you already have a long list of things to do today? Guess what…there’s time to change it!
Here’s a good one – Ask God if there’s something you are supposed to do for Him today. Maybe let Him make some plans today.
“You who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”” (James 4:13-15)
God reminds us in Scripture that tomorrow is never promised. What if you reached the end of your life and magically, you were given one more day? What would you do with it?
Go ahead – let today be your extra day. Do something great with it…you’ve got the time.
