Well surprisingly enough, we ALREADY heard back from insurance about radiation- it’s like a new record!
Turns out they only approved the “regular” route of radiation and denied the proton therapy. I’m a little bummed, but as I said in my last post, the results are the same and both will give me the same chances of this never returning again. We prayed that God would be in the details and make it so whatever the right course of action is would come to pass, and I trust He was! God is in control.
In fact, in the short term there are a few cons to the proton therapy, part of the reason I was actually glad not to have to make this decision…1) I would have to drive really far for daily appointments…serious drag for this for girl used to working from home. And 2) it tends to give harsher “burns” which don’t sound fun. And that could also mean waiting longer to heal at the end, thus postponing the reconstruction surgeries, of which I’m eager to get to because the “interim” situation is a real pain in the…well…boob.
So…there you have it! One more answer in the tank that I don’t have to roll around in my brain over and over again!
Also, after this weekend I can say there are only 4 MORE rounds of chemo! I can count them on one hand! Getting closer!!!
It’s been a little while since I’ve posted any updates on our surrogacy…
