Before and After

Wow, 2 weeks since my last post? It’s because we’ve been BUSY! Since FC Kids Camp was the last two weeks and we didn’t get to be part of it this year with everything going on, we decided to make a trip out to Allaso Ranch each week so we could still play and cheer on our friends (ahem, Blue Team), and boy, was it a good decision! While I really just sat in the lovely air-conditioned worship center and watched rehearsals and Bible Study, it was still the most activity I’ve had since surgery (which we are 5 weeks from today, by the way). It was also the least amount of activity I’ve ever done at camp.
But it was such a great boost to our spirits to see everyone and frankly, just to get out of the house (Ok, we didn’t have to drive to East Texas just to get out of the house, but you know us…when we do things, we don’t do them halfway).

While we were out there for Week 2 (Which is when I usually attend and lead the Blue Team), everyone wore their pink “Team Crys” shirts and it was incredible! And while we didn’t get to see it in person, the Blue Team even worked “Go Team Crys” into their cheer later that week (which definitely did NOT make me ugly cry when I saw the video). I felt so loved and supported so thanks to everyone for letting us know how much you support us, even during a week that is definitely not about us in any way.

While there, I stole a few moments to chat with Christian Englert. If you don’t know his story, he had a rare brain tumor about 2 years ago…he is now healthy and cancer-free, just graduated high school and ready to begin the next chapter in his life! We took a picture together on the deck, and I found it so poignant…here’s a literal “before and after” picture! Definitely provides perspective and hope for my own future.

I just discovered how to upload photos in Caring Bridge, so here’s the pic Christian and I took and just a small portion of the pink-shirt army at camp. I also uploaded both my and Christian’s “post-surgery” pics – he definitely had the cooler bandages, but I had the cooler blanket (handmade by Kristen Rogers!)
